Become an Intern for GRAAM
One of the greatest aspects of India is the diversified palate its context offers. GRAAM not only welcomes interns from various knowledge backgrounds and interests, but also ensures a unique and holistic experience for the intern. To truly understand and experience India, it takes a humble willingness to explore and learn in a dynamic environment. Such is the nature of any GRAAM intern.
Because GRAAM is an institute that excels in several fields and works with various players facilitating development, it provides opportunities to grow from unique dimensions. These internships are an extraordinary way for shaping one’s own experience, and letting your learning take on its own path. The GRAAM internship is open-ended since it is designed and customized for such an individual demonstrating relevant qualifications in the field of expressed interest. At GRAAM, we believe that one doesn’t simply work for the organization. One should strive to learn, and work will be a product of that learning.
After the completion of the internship program the student(s) will receive a certificate from GRAAM attesting their participation in the project. At GRAAM, the work that interns do is held in high regard, and may be recognized in magazines, newspapers, journals, etc. Exceptional interns that contribute significantly to their designated project, to the growth of GRAAM, or to the community at large, are prestigiously recognized by GRAAM as Junior GRAAM Fellows.
Internship Logistics
Interns will primarily stay at the V-LEAD's Supraja Campus in Mysore. This facility has dorm-style accommodations. While, accommodation and food for the intern will be arranged to be provided by GRAAM at subsidized costs, all travel expenses will have to be covered by the intern. The intern(s) is also responsible for securing a travel ticket, a visa and appropriate immunizations for travel to India. The intern(s) will also be responsible for any expenses related to their health, travel, and other living expenses (e.g., Laundry, phone calls to their friends and families, etc.). Upon arrival the student intern(s) will receive a safety and cultural sensitivity guideline document from GRAAM to ensure an enjoyable working experience in India.
Though GRAAM may be able to share its resources, we strongly encourage student interns to bring their laptop computers and accompanying software that will help them accomplish the project goals. The student interns will work as a team along with the GRAAM/SVYM staff and their project-specific mentor. It is best that student intern(s) plan and prepare themselves for some local travel during their stay in India as well.
Application Process
Each applicant undergoes a careful screening process, which takes about 4 weeks for the decision process. This is because GRAAM will match the prospective intern’s skills with specific projects the organization is undertaking.
